Syria’s minister of the interior said today that an explosion on a bus parked at a Damascus gas station was an accident and was not terrorist-related, the Associated Press reported one hour ago.

Initial reports of the explosion, which occurred on a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims to a Muslim shrine in the Syrian city, indicated that at least six people were killed and dozens more were injured. Minister Said Mohammad Sammour, however, said on state-run Syrian television that only three people died in the accident — the driver of the bus and two gas station workers, who were killed when the tyre they were pumping air into exploded.
