FAQ
Why “periscope”?
During an afternoon walk, while thinking through the very early planning stages of what would become The Periscope Post, the word “periscope” popped into its founder’s head out of the clear blue sky and for no apparent reason. The more he thought about the connotations of the periscope — looking around and gathering information; an apparatus by which an observer sees things that are otherwise out of sight — the more appropriate the name seemed. Adding “post” to the name was simply a way of signalling the idea that contributions posted by interactive readers and others would form an integral part of the news site. That and the alliteration sounded cool.
