In terms of portable computers, Lenovo stole the show at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with its Skylight and IdealPad devices.

Priced at $499 the Lenovo Skylight incorporates the power of a smartphone and a fully equipped laptop. The PixelQi LCD display operates in two modes – a standard color laptop mode, and a non-backlit mode used in traditional eReaders. It combines 3G and Wi-Fi into the Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM processor, 14GB of storage along and an integrated USB stick. Weighing under 2lbs with a 10-inch HD screen, the Skylight is sleek and sexy.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 hybrid notebook is much pricier, at $999, but it’s very cool indeed. The 11.6 inch screen portion of the notebook can be removed and act independently as a tablet device. Once removed, it runs in hybrid-Skylight mode, running off the Snapdragon processor with a 16GB drive. Its a laptop-come-slate device with two brains and two operating systems, giving the user the best of both worlds.

ASUS also showed off a netbook/tablet concept, as well as MSI’s dual screen touchscreen netbook prototype. Also notable is the super compact Aspire Revo R3610 and the Sony VAIO L117FX/B.
