Celebrity “journalism” is all about gleeful schadenfreude these days: Even as publicists for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie scramble to squash rumours that the dynamic duo were headed for a break up, newspapers and blogs were all abuzz with the possibility that Brangelina might go back to using their own, uncombined names.

Over the weekend, several celebrity sites and newspapers claimed that the couple, who have never been married, were seen visiting a prominent divorce lawyer about how to split their vast, £205 million fortune and care for their six children. Celeb site TMZ.com claimed that the rumours are false, as did Perez Hilton and People magazine.

But The Daily Mail reported today that the seeds of divorce were sown at a dinner at a posh Midtown Manhattan restaurant, where Angelina allegedly told Brad that she was “bored” of him, and he responded by telling her that she needed “psychiatric help.” The Mail wants to know now whether Brad will go back to his ex, Friends actress Jennifer Aniston.
